Bargain holidays to Orlando

The Sunshine State is larger than life, packed with great beaches, tropical heat and world-class theme parks: Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, and more. Most package tour hotels are in Orlando in the State’s centre.

If you’re planning to visit the theme parks, save time and money by buying a multi-attraction ticket on your flight over (depends on operator). Car rental can be cheap as part of fly-drive packages, or by haggling off-airport after arrival.

Food: There are very cheap buffets with all-you-can-eat of an amazing variety of foods. Breakfast is a major speciality; keep an eye out for deals where children are welcome to eat free.

Nightlife: Florida has a world class choice of entertainment whether it be bars, clubs, disco, cabaret and casinos. Well-organised baby sitting services — bookable through tour operators — allow young parents their turn for a night on the town.

Shopping: Best buys are discounted designer clothes, denim jeans and Disney merchandise. Orlando’s International Drive has many discount stores and factory outlets. Remember there’s a 6% sales tax added to everything.

Days out: In addition to the best-known of Florida’s theme park attractions see St Petersburg’s Dali Museum, the Florida Aquarium, Kennedy Space Centre (1hr east of Orlando), if you’ve the time take a trip south through the Everglades to the dramatic Florida Keys.
